Cognitive Behavioural Therapy- what is it and how will it benefit me?

Cognitive behavioural therapy is an evidence based treatment which is recommended by NICE to treat symptoms of anxiety, depression and a range of other mental health difficulties.

It is based on the principles of challenging and changing cognitive distortions and behaviours, along with emotional regulation and the development of coping strategies. This brief time limited therapy aims to show us that our feelings and behaviours are based on our thoughts rather than external stimuli.

How can it benefit me?

Cognitive behavioural therapy is;

  • As effective as medication in treating many mental health difficulties

  • Can be delivered in person, over the phone or via video link

  • Focuses on dealing with your difficulties in the here and now and equipping you with techniques to manage difficult emotions more effectively

  • Is a collaborative form of therapy so gives the client more control over their treatment package and goals

  • Is time limited and goal focused and focuses on identifying and challenging negative thinking styles.

We are able to deliver CBT for many emotional difficulties and will create a person-centred approach to your treatment.

Please get in touch if you would like more details.
